Felted Juggling Balls

Last weekend we decided to felt some juggling balls. It was a family affair and we all did it together. I used this tutorial but put white fleece over first, then the coloured fleece. I was going from memory so had forgotten how this blog applied their fleece, so will make some more this weekend.

This was so much fun and I recommend everyone give it ago. These balls have been constantly played with all week.

Yet to be Released Knitting Pattern - Teachers Pet

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to test knit a fabulous knitting pattern designed by my good friend Julia over at Just One W.I.P

It is not quite released yet, but I promise to let you all know as soon as it is released (it's due out in August).

If you have a wee girl or are able to knit for someone else's wee girl then you must buy this pattern, it is truly fantastic.

Here's my girl wearing her new Teacher's Pet.

Happy Knitting :)

New and Improved

As some of you know I have spent many many hours re-designing my Interchangeable Needle Case and I am pleased to say that I am finally happy with what I have come up with.

Here is a sneak peak

I will start making these for sale tomorrow and they will be available through my Etsy Store in the not too distant future.

I am also working on the pattern for this design too and will be sending the test pattern out in the next couple of days.

It has been such a long process to come up with this design, I originally had a completely different design drawn up, but after many hours of sewing, unpicking, re-cutting, re-sewing, ironing, unpicking, having to get more fabric, purchase longer zips, lots and lots of bad words LOL I am sure that this will become a much loved case for anyone who purchases it.

Felting with the Little Person

Last Tuesday I did some felting with my little monkey, it was such a dark and horrid day that thought it would be fun to bring some colour into our day.

I was inspired by this post on Childhood Magics blog (oh how I love this blog) and followed the same tutorial that she did.

I have never done this kind of felting, but had roving floating around (as you do LOL). I had an old bamboo blind that was sitting in our rubbish pile that's destined for the tip so cut a bit off it to use in the felting process.

While I did have to do the bulk of the felting process because I wasn't 100% sure what we were going, we still had alot of fun.

Here is some highlights (sorry about the dark photo's):

Please click on the mosaic to view it better

I plan on doing some more felting with the little person to make some juggling balls :) next week oh and maybe some felt beads.

Have a fantastic day

Spread the Word

Yay, I have spent far too much time today figuring out how to make a button to spread the word for our Waldorf Doll Sew Along but I finally figured it out :), now I will be able to make these in minutes if I ever need another one, LOL, it's funny how something that looks so simple can really test the brain (or maybe that's because I am tired).

Here it is:

You can use the code below to pop this button on your blog to spread the Waldorf Doll love :)

Just copy the above code and paste into a HTML gadget on Blogger (sorry not sure about other blogs)

Waldorf Doll Sew Along Begins

So I've been trying to figure out the best way to do this and have spent a bit of time searching about checking out how other bloggers run Sew Alongs to discover most of the ones I found are actually done through Flickr.

So, I've made a Flickr group here so we can communicate with each other a bit better. I think it will be a great way to share and ask each other questions etc.

I will still update this blog though with things I find, and make links to any posts that you make.

I will also make a Sew Along blog once I figure out how to do it, so you can spread the word as well.

I guess this is the best way, but if you have any suggestions, please let me know :)

I am really looking forward to see what everyone comes up with.

Waldorf Doll Sew Along - Who's keen?

I've have been thinking of starting a sew-along to make Waldorf dolls for our little people in time for Christmas. I've just made a few notes on how it could be run, I'm wanting to check though to see who would be keen.

Check out this cuteness from some amazing crafters, these dolls are my inspiration, please click on the links below to see who has made them :)

1. Little Miss Lilly, 2. Gabby, 3. Custom made Waldorf Doll, 4. Wiesenelfchen - Fairy flying into Spring, 5. Ben the little waldorf doll, 6. Madison the little waldorf doll, 7. Lenabag, 8. Lenashoes

This is what I have come up with so far:

Sign up's will start ASAP and close at the end of July.

In August, each week will be a new theme for everyone to post about.

Week 1 - Supply Sources - both online and local suppliers
Week 2 - Links to tutorials online or anything else you may have found that would be helpful
Week 3 - Confirm that supplies have been ordered or post about anything else you think might be useful
Week 4 - Show us your supplies, links to inspiration etc.

Then in September I will post each week on how I am going with photo tutorials of what I have made. A friend of mine wants to have a doll making day, so I can include photo's from this too. You can then link to your blog on your progress updates as well, then at the end of Sept/Oct have a big reveal of all our beautiful dolls.

I think it would be awesome to cover everything, from making the actual body, through to hair styles to clothing.

So, what do you think? Would you be keen to join me?

My Creative Space - 15th July 2010

Oops, I do believe it has been a month since I participated in this and my god I have missed it.

I can't give away too much today, this photo is a selection of goodies that have taken over my creative space today. I have been having so much fun creating a couple of new products for sale soon.

One has been on the cards for a very very long time. The other popped into my head a few weeks ago and I have made a few since which have been well received. So I want to share the cuteness with the rest of the world. All in good time though people LOL. I don't like selling products that have not been well tested.

I also have an inkling to start making and sell beaded jewellery again. In fact I still have stock pre Cara that I should sell, but time is always a big factor in getting these things done. It never ceases to amaze me how time slows down, yet speeds up at the same time once you have little people in your lives.

I'm Back!

Well I gave myself a self imposed bloggy break, mainly due to a computer that is running like a dog at the moment, but I also needed to sort out a few other things.

I need to apologise first to the lovely ladies that I participated in a pincushion swap with, I haven't posted about the amazing goodies I received yet. All I can say is I am very very sorry and I will do this over the next couple of days.

Now, for what I have been up to. You know it's one of those jobs that shouldn't take so long, but does and after a few mistakes is put onto the back burner for a wee bit, then finally started coming together today.

I've been setting myself up to start selling various goodies. I will mainly have sewing and knitting accessories, but there is also some kiddies toys and some household items. Of course there will be new items added as I make them too.

Over the next wee while I will be updating my Felt Store with some of these various goodies, so keep an eye out. You never know there might just be something that takes your fancy.

I also have a lot of crafty goodness to catch up on, so will endeavour to do this over the next week, so you all can see what I have been up too.

Just a wee teaser of some buttons I will be listing

I must say I have really missed catching up on all the lovely blogs I follow, so I can see that in the very near future a lot of tea will be drunk as I plop myself in front of the lappy to catch up with what's been going on in bloggyland :)
