Interchangeable Needle Case
I am so very very proud of what I made yesterday. It's been on my mind for sometime. I made one the other week for a friend, then one for me yesterday.
As per the title I have made a Interchangeable Needle Case which I so desperately needed. I searched NZ sites and couldn't find any, found some on Etsy, but they were too expensive and not quite what I wanted. So me being me thought "hey I can do this myself", so out came pen and paper and this is the result:

There are two zipped pockets, one for cables, one for fixed circulars. There are two rows of pockets for the needles (I'm sure they will fill up soon enough). There is also room for a measuring tape and needle size do-daky (can't for the life of me remember the name).
Now my ever increasing Knit Picks are all nice and tidy, yiiippppeeeeee
Oh and I should add, while there are no numbers to tell me what size the tips are, I just couldn't bring myself to write the numbers on with a fabric pen, hence the space for the needle size do-daky LOL
I will be setting up an Etsy store soon and will have some of these available to purchase as well as the pattern if you would like to make your own :) Watch this space!

Waffle Stitch Fingerless Mitts
I wanted something quick and easy to knit over the weekend, so I chose this pattern. It's knitted with Ashford Tekapo 8 ply on 4.5mm needles. They are a tad loose, so next time I will use 4mm needles to get a better fit.

Only problem is, every time I say or think the word 'waffles' I can hear Donkey from Shrek saying it. Odd I know, but I do have a wee giggle every time. LOL

Needle Felting and Yarn Dyeing
I've been busy busy busy. I had one of those moments last weekend that I needed to dye some yarn, and dye lots of it while I'm at it. Because I was in such a rip and bust mood, I grabbed my homemade niddy noddy, got the yarn ready, all 700gms of it LOL and threw it in a bucket with water and a heap of vinegar.
Then promptly forgot about it. What a dork, I got completely side tracked. It wasn't until I was cooking dinner on Saturday night that I remembered what my plan was for the morning. Oh dear, what am I going to do.... gobbled down dinner, cleared the kitchen bench (yes I was naughty and couldn't be bothered clearing the craft table) and proceeded to dye said 700gms of yarn with cake gels.
Because I was rushing and wasn't really concentrating on what I was doing I had a wee accident with some pink dye solution....As in I spilt it everywhere. Now because I was lazy and working in the kitchen, there was a mad panic to clean our tiled floors and and the front of our cupboards that I neglected to see it running into the already dyed yarn waiting for me to wrap up and let sit. Oopsy. Wasn't much I could do about it once this happened so I will see how it looks knitted up, if it's too disgusting I can always re-dye it, but this time I will do it probably.
I'm not actually overly happy with the results to be perfectly honest. I've only ever dyed wool 3 times prior to this episode and previously I have taken my time, carefully laid out the yarn, thought about where the colours were going etc etc, this time I grabbed a bag, dumped the yarn on it, grabbed a big paint brush and let rip.
This is the result

Now for my other wee project, I knitted a bookmark, hand felted it and tried my hand at needle felting. It was quite enjoyable, I reckon there is something to stabbing a really sharp needle very quickly, I guess it's a form of stress relief.
The results are a bit rustic, but it is destined for someone I am doing a swap for so I hope she likes it.

I can see that needle felting will be quite addictive, I've already thought out a vest that I would like to make Cara. Kinda 60's revival LOL.

Yarny Goodness Competition
A friend of mine is currently running a competition for some extremely yummy sock yarn. Check it out here . Just leave a comment and she will enter you into the comp as well. She is being very generous and is happy to post internationally as well.
Go on do it :)
I've got some needles coming soon so I will be delving into the world of sock knitting as well, not sure if that's a good thing or not LOL

Rainbow Dresses x 2
I knitted these a few months ago and never got around to putting them up here. I love this pattern, it is such a quick knit and keeps Cara so nice and warm.

You can get a free copy of the pattern here. Check out her other patterns as well, most are for free and her latest release called 'Milo' can be purchased for a small amount. I will be casting this on over the next week.

Meet Emily
I've been meaning to post a picture of wee Emily since I made her for Cara's birthday back in April, but you know how it is LOL. So here she is:

Upon looking at the photo, it's not a great picture. So I will take another one outside when I get the chance.
She was very quick to make, the face took the longest naturally since it's embroidered . I'm now thinking that she would be great made out of recycled fabric (body and clothing). Right, off to search my wardrobe :)
