My Creative Space

Finally I have started creating goodies for Christmas.

First up is a Waldorf Doll for my wee monkey. I'm not overly happy with the shape of the body so will do this again and unfortunately I might have to re-do the head because the head is floppy but I think I know the cause now. Bit of a bummer, but these things happen.

Here she is so far:

I'm also in the process of making my own shampoo but will post seperately if this works out. So far it's been extremely easy :)

My Creative Space

I've wanted to make myself a quilt for years but there have been a few reasons why I haven't.

1. Until 2 years ago I didn't really sew, well not since my teens anyway
2. I had no idea what to do
3. Chosing fabric is really really hard

....BUT.....

Now I have the fabric I want. Funny thing is that if you had suggested I make a quilt out of these colours 2 years ago I would have said "NO WAY, Yuck". Now however my taste in colour has completely changed. No longer do I like just Autumn colours, I have a love affair with bright summery colours. I would have rainbows all over the house if I could.

Here's a peek at some of the fabrics I have chosen for my quilt.

Now time to decide on a pattern. I'm actually thinking I will just cut big squares and sew it all together....or maybe get some more solid colours to go between the big squares. I have a 15" square I have permately LOL borrowed from my Mum so I was thinking this size....hmmm not sure.

What do you think? Pattern suggestions much appreciated.

My Creative Space - 15/04/2010

So today is a bit more relaxed than most of my other Thursdays.

I finished my first shawl off this morning and I love it. This was quite an easy knit, once I got one of the stitches sorted (I had major brain fade with it). The pattern is a free Ravelry download called Cherry Surprise. The yarn was hand dyed by Moi :)

Now that the little person is having her afternoon nap I'm going to head on down to the garage to try and find some sterling silver wire, hammer and beads to try and make my own shawl pin. Haven't made anything for years so this will be fun.

Now while this isn't my creativeness, I really wanted to share this with everyone. This was two of favourite people in the whole world on Sunday.

Painting with Daddy

This is my partners 3rd painting, can you believe it is only his 3rd, crazy!

My Creative Space 1st April 2010

Well I'm following on from last week and have a number of projects on the go again.

This time the wee fishes are finished, fishing rods have been painted, just need to add the line and magnet and I'm all done. Oh poop, I just remembered I forget to get blue fabric from spotty today to make the ocean out of, oh and a wee basket, bugger, bugger, bugger.

I also started a Hobby Horse for Miss C last night, but didn't fancy going down to the garage at 10pm to screw the sock onto the broom handle so this will be done today. I forgot to take a photo of what it looks like at the moment, but will update in a couple of days with the finished horse. Because I was stuck and in a creative mood I started a Easter Bunny for Miss C. I drafted the pattern and cut it out. I hope it works out, I only had a fat 1/4 of each of these fabrics so buggered if my pattern sucks (the arms, legs and ears and inside out so the fabric looks poo). I think it is looking good so far, but we shall see later today.

Miss C and I also did some baking this morning, here is the recipe, it's super easy.

Cream 100gm butter and 1 cup of sugar. Mix in 1 egg and 1 tsp vanilla essence.

Add 1 1/2 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder and a big handful of choc chips or sultanas.

Mix everything together.

The mix might be a bit dry depending on the size of the egg. I just squish everything together by hand and it will feel like cookie dough.

Put spoonfuls onto a baking try and squash with a fork.

Bake for approx 12 - 15 mins at 190C. Sorry I can't actually remember the time they take to cook, I just check them as I faff about the kitchen and when they are going brown on top, take them out. Do you like my style of baking? LOL

I cracked up when I uploaded this pic, notice the bikkie on the bottom left hand corner, there are a couple of cheeky bites taken out of it haha.

My Creative Space

Hello,

Today I'm working on a present for Cara's bestie. He turned two on Monday and I am making them both a fishing set so they can have a set at each house and go fishing.

I managed to cut out 12 this morning, and will cut out some more this afternoon.

The idea came from this book. I have it on loan at the moment from our library, but will eventually purchase it. The ideas in it are fantastic. I have never looked through a book like this that I want to make everything in it.

I can not wait to get these little sweeties finished.

My Creative Space

On today's menu we have Bunnies, lots and lots of Bunnies.

I have been frantic these past few days creating Bunnie Rattles for my first market. It has surprised me just how long working in mass production takes. I'm starting to freak out a wee bit because I haven't actually finished anything, but I'm hoping that by next week everything will come together and I will have a heap of crafty loveliness ready.

Since this photo was taken this fabric has been cut and there are bunnie body parts all over the place LOL.

Thought I would through this in as well, I'm not a great fan of orange but I love the intensity of this flower. From memory it is a Mexican Sunflower, I threw it in the garden and had no idea just how beautiful this flower would be. I will get a picture tomorrow of the whole plant, it's huge. I need to read up on collecting seed because it's an annual and I would love to have this in the garden again next year.
